“The cruise ships visiting Formentera this season will anchor outside the posidonia oceanica as they must drop anchor away from zone two of the Port of La Savina, where the meadow of this marine plant is located.
According to the Formentera Council this week, the measure is a continuation of the commitment made in 2015 to preserve the posidonia meadows that were declared a World Heritage Site in 1999.
Specifically, cruise ships will have to anchor one mile away from the port, to the north-west, where the bottom is sandy and has a depth of 40 metres…”.
